Wednesday night we went to see Patty Griffin at the Ryman. It was a great show - I really love her, and it's been a long time since I've seen her. She was so cute - she had on a shiny black sleeveless skirt, a black pencil skirt, and red high heels. With her red hair, she was a cross between Bonnie Raitt, Grace Adler, and Dorothy :P I wanted her and her band to rock out more, but it was still quite enjoyable.
Work has been a little chaotic - they are renovating our offices, so we have all temporarily relocated to other places. I've been hanging out in the cafe. It's quiet in there - occasionally the 2 French Canadian guys that are building our organ will come in and have a "tea break". Oh, speaking of the French Canadian organ builders, the other day at our wedding shower, Jessica was talking about needing to replace the catalytic converter in her car. One of the guys thought she was saying "Catholic converter". He had this worried look on his face - I think he thought we were going to convert him...heehee...I have actually enjoyed the change in venue, even though it's been a hassle lugging all my files and laptop around. And I'm looking forward to having a different, renovated office when it's all said and done.
I asked Jessica to tell me more about the cake she and her daughter made for us for the shower. She said the bottom layer was white cake with a middle layer of apricot ginger gelee with apricot pieces and walnuts and blue icing. There were white chocolate shells and starfish on top. It actually started out to be shaped like be big island, and it represented water and the beach represented by the shells. The middle layer was shaped like a heart with rose petals lining the edge. It had white icing representing Daniel's and my white attire. It was white cake with a white chocolate ricotta and macadamia nut layer (sooo yummy!). The top layer was the same as the bottom layer (white cake with a middle layer of apricot ginger gelee with apricot pieces and walnuts and blue icing), with the blue icing representing the Hawaiian sky. There was also white chocolate flowers, representing the flowers in my hair and our leis. So yeah, they did an awesome job.
We had some flooding in our backyard from the creek last night due to a rain storm. It didn't make it up to the house, so everything was okay. It got really close to the other side of the duplex, though.
